Last week, we discussed how many beauty and hair professionals are undertaking extra training on services to be able to offer more competitive treatments and services within their business (which you can read here), however this week we look into how to upgrade a treatment to a client when they are already booked in for an appointment at your salon.
Let’s imagine that a client has booked in for a spray tan and you want to upgrade them to a hands-on tan treatment; better for the client and better for you as a way of increasing revenue. Once the client arrives for their appointment and before they start their treatment, explain to them that there is an upgrade available on the treatment they have booked in for. Explaining to the client that the hands-on tanning treatment is so much more than just getting a tan and that it’s a longer, calming and rejuvenating spa treatment, could just be enough for your client to want to indulge in a bit of “me time” at the additional price.
The most important thing to do when trying to upgrade a treatment to a client is to let them know that this is all about them. They will be able to spend an hour away from the hustle and bustle of life to relax whilst they not only get that tan they’ve been desiring, but also a full body exfoliation all in the comfort of a warm treatment room.
Do you have any tips to share when it comes to upgrading a treatment or service to a client?
